- What is Hysteroscopy?
Hysteroscopy is a way to look inside the uterus. A hysteroscope is a thin, telescope-like device that is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix. It may help a doctor diagnose or treat a uterine problem.
- What is a Hysterectomy?
Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus as a way of treating problems that affect the uterus. Because it is major surgery, your doctor may suggest trying other treatments before hysterectomy. For sever conditions -- and those that have not responded to other treatments -- a hysterectomy may be the best choice. The choice depends to some extent on the effect of the condition, and the surgery, on your life. You should be fully informed of all options before you decide.
- What are Uterine fibroids?
Uterine fibroids are benign (not cancer) growths in the uterus. They are the most common type of growth found in a woman’s pelvis. The occur in about 20 - 25% of all women. Many women who have fibroids are not aware of them because the growths can remain small ant not cause symptoms. Fibroids can cause problems because of their size, number and location. Like any growth, fibroids should be checked by a doctor.
- What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a puzzling hormonal and immune disease affecting girls and women in their reproductive years. The name comes from the word “endometrium,” which is the tissue that lines the inside of the uterus and builds up and sheds each month in the menstrual cycle. In “endo,” as it is called for short, tissue like the endometrium is found outside the uterus, in other areas of the body. In these locations outside the uterus, the endometrial tissue develops into what are called “nodules,” “tumors”, “lesions,” “implants,” or “growths.” These growths may cause pain, infertility, and other problems. The most common symptoms of endo are pain before and during periods (usually worse than “normal” menstrual cramps) pain during or after sexual activity, infertility, and heavy bleeding.
- What is Urinary Incontinence?
Urinary incontinence is the accidental loss of urine that is troublesome to the person experiencing it. Anyone can develop urinary incontinence and estimates show that 10 to 15 million Americans have this problem.
- What is Sclerotherapy for spider and varicose veins?
The Sclerotherapy treatment was developed in the 1920’s. During the procedure, a sclerosing solution is injected in the vein through a micro-needle. The tiny needle generally causes very little pain and the solution causes the vein to blanch (turn white), then gradually disappear. Injection Sclerotherapy may eliminate the need for an invasive surgical procedure.
